Get Oh Hi markdown
The desktop app works on folders on your disk and updates itself. A browser is enough for joining a shared folder.
Desktop app
- macOS ohhi_universal.dmg Apple silicon and Intel, one build
- Linux ohhi_amd64.AppImage any distribution; needs FUSE 2
- Debian and Ubuntu ohhi_amd64.deb installs with apt
Check a download against SHA256SUMS.txt from the same release.
First launch on macOS
- Open the
.dmgand drag ohhi into Applications. -
The first launch is blocked, because the app is not notarized yet. Go to
System Settings → Privacy & Security, find “ohhi was blocked…” and
choose Open Anyway. Or, in Terminal:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/ohhi.app - Updates after that install themselves. Only the first launch needs this.
First launch on Linux
-
The AppImage needs FUSE 2:
sudo apt install libfuse2on Ubuntu 22.04,libfuse2t64on 24.04 and later. chmod +x ohhi_amd64.AppImage, then run it. It updates in place.-
The
.debinstalls withsudo apt install ./ohhi_amd64.deb, but only updates itself when a release carries its signature. Prefer the AppImage.
In your browser
app.ohhi.md runs the same app. Notes you make there live in that browser’s storage, not in a folder, and each browser has its own copy. A shared folder also lives on the relay and on every device holding a link to it, so the browser is a fine place to join one. Keep your own notes in the desktop app.
For agents
ohhi is the command an agent uses over a vault: ranked search that answers with
references, a note’s outline or one section, links and backlinks, collections, what changed
since, and journaled writes. ohhi mcp serves the same operations to any MCP
client. It is not bundled with the app yet.
